Storyline: While out on patrol, Nightwing saw what appeared to be a suicide jumper, but he was followed by another who landed on her feed from 30+ floors up. She was aided by a strange synthetic textile fabric. Dick was hired on by Bludhaven PD. Nightwing tracked down the lady with the fabric, who'd just killed her second millionaire.

Storyline: Dick took a fabric sample to Lucious Fox as a potential "investment" to be tested. Officer Grayson was assigned to Sgt. Amy Rohrbach for training. As Nightwing, he learned the truth about the fabric lady - she was Sylvan Scofield. Her father had committed suicide after his fabric invention (Achilloran) was stolen. Trying to escape Nightwing, she hung herself in it and was killed. Dudley Soames took a hostage, Inspector Arnot, and blew up the police HQ.

Storyline: When the coroner arrived for Sylph (Sylvan Scofield), there was no body. Dick ditched his cop gear and went after Soames as Nightwing. Blockbuster's new heart seemed to be taking well, but he learned that his mother had died. Nightwing saved Arnot and the cops got to Soames. He was locked up in the same cell as Tad.

Storyline: Nightwing attempted to save a man in a runaway wheelchair from oncoming traffic. He was too late. He chased a woman who he thought was the killer through Bludhaven. She got away. Officer Grayson learned that the victim was the former police commissioner. The girl killed again - this time "Lunchmeat" Deever's son. Victim number three was another former cop. Each body had a number burned into them, and Dick was able to match those numbers to police badges. Each badge number belonged to an officer named Riordan. Dick talked to Hogan, his former boss and former policeman. The Riordans were a family of cops who were all killed in a bombing, except for the youngest - Kate. Officers Redhorn and Soames were assigned the case. Rumor was that Kate got experimental surgery done in Santa Prisca; Venom was used. Three more cops died, including the chief. Dick and Barbara searched out Redhorns hiding place and Nightwing rushed there. He was able to save Redhorn, but Kate Riordan appeared to die in a boat explosion.
