Storyline: Talia was given documentation of her father's life. She was to read it to Damian in order to play her part in Ra's al Ghul's resurrection. The White Ghost and al Ghul's acolytes prepared the ceremony that required a male blood relative of the deceased - unbeknownst to Talia.
Elsewhere, Batman tracked some ecologists that had gone missing in an area of Australia that showed signs of a possible Lazarus Pit - the moths were living exponentially longer than they should, apples were staying preserved longer than possible, and a couple of people were well into their 100s. He was attacked by al Ghul's assassins and later stumbled upon their compound after finding the perfectly preserved bodies of the ecologists. The White Ghost fell into the Lazarus Pit

Storyline: Damian was walking the streets of China when he was pulled into a shop by an old man. He was warned of the Festival of Hungry Ghosts and offered some tea. Damian slapped it out of the old man's hand and began to leave. He stopped and rethought things when the man mentioned his father wearing a mask.
Damian awakened in a graveyard and was attacked by ghosts (which he did not believe in) and several Robins. After defeating them and not showing fear, his watcher was pleased.

Storyline: Batman met up with I-Ching in Hong Kong. An attacker seemed to be momentarily possessed.
Talia sent the Silken Spider, Dragon Fly, and Tiger Moth to 'keep Batman occupied.' From them, he learned Ra's al Ghul was no longer dead.
Ra's let himself be known to Talia and Damian. His new body was decaying quickly - he could feel nothing through it. Damian fled when he learned Ra's wanted to claim his body. Talia fought her father.

Damian made his way to the Batcave where he was confronted by Robin, who had been expecting him. He told the boy that Batman wasn't arround and that he didn't believe his grandfather had returned. Damian went to Alfred to ask about Batman; Robin saw him as threatening and attacked.
The Sensei's people went out in search of the map to Nanda Parbat.
Batman freed Talia from Ra's al Ghul's bindings. He sent Nightwing to look for Damian while he sought Ra's.
Dozens of League of Assassins ninjas surrounded Wayne Manor.

Nightwing got the call from Batman and headed to the Manor. He quickly dispatched Tiger Moth, Dragonfly, and Silken Spider with some gas. He realized just how much he was up against when he saved Alfred from the ninjas.
Batman and Talia continued to search for her father, who was preparing to go to Nanda Parbat. His map was coming together nicely.
Nightwing got to Robin and Damian, but the young duo was captured when Nightwing chose to save the girls who'd been hit with poison.

Damian and Robin were delivered to Ra's al Ghul. He offered Robin a spot in his organization - he could even bring his parents back.
Talia gave Batman a cloak and armor to help combat the cold as they trekked through the mountains. Ninjas attacked; I Ching was there to help. The trio soon came face to face with the Demon's Head. Batman was given a choice - Ra's would take the body of either Damian or Robin.
Ubu and some ninjas were on the landing strip waiting for Alfred and Nightwing. The two easily defeated Ra's al Ghul's men.

Batman offered a third option: he'd lead Ra's to Nanda Parbat. En route, they realized the Sensei and his men were already there. The Sensei, Ra's' father, ran him through, seemingly killing him again. The Sensei then went for Batman, all but killing him. They both fell into the Fountain of Life. Ra's put himself in one of the monk's bodies.

Damian stowed away into White Ghost's helicopter before it took off for Nanda Parbat. Alfred flew Robin, Nightwing, and Talia to Nanda Parbat, where Ra's readied to enter Damian's body.

Batman fought Ra's away from his son and ordered Damian to fight with Nightwing and Robin against the League of Assassins. The White Ghost sacrificed himself for his father - Ra's moved into his body.
Talia knocked Damian out and escaped with him. Rama Kushna grew tired of the fighting in her land and threw everyone out. The Bat crew escaped on their jet, leaving the rest behind.

  • Ra's al Ghul was a physician and married a woman named Sora, who was killed. (Batman Annual 26)
  • The al Ghul family is defined a bit as the Sensei being Ra's' father and the White Ghost (Dusan) his son.
