Storyline: Bruce Wayne contacted Lady Shiva. She agreed to get him back into shape. She killed one of the deadliest masters in martial arts wearing a bat mask. After two weeks of training, Bruce finally got a strike in on Shiva. She gave him her bat mask and told him where to go. Each of the master's trainees unknowingly were now after Bruce (knowing only their master was slain by the wearer of the mask). The first attacked with chains; Wayne defeated him. Shiva finished him when Bruce refused to. Under Robin's surveillance, Jean Paul continued to spiral downward. Stopping some gun runners, Az-Bat recovered LeHah's medallion of St. Dumas. Bruce defeated another master.

Storyline: Jean Paul had another vision. Bruce continued his training and called Nightwing and Robin. He told them everything he knew about Azrael and the Order of St. Dumas. They agreed to shadow Az-Bat for him. Jean Paul began seeking his father's murderer, Carleton LeHah. Bruce defeated yet another attacking master.

Storyline: Nightwing and Robin snuck into the cave and met up with Harold, who helped them set up some surveillance equipment. Bruce was headed toward his next test. As soon as he gained the victory, he was attacked by another. Luck was with him on the second victory of the night. Nightwing and Robin watched as Azrael was plagued by a vision.

Storyline: Bruce had to defeat almost a dozen of the next master's apprentices before their sensei arrived. Az-Bat continued searching out his father's murderer. He appeared to forego the mantle of the Bat and revert back wholly to Azrael. Nightwing and Robin witnessed Bruce defeating the sensei, apparently killing him.

Storyline: Shiva arrived and congratulated Bruce for killing. He officially "graduated" her course. As soon as she left with the bat mask, the dead sensei awakened. Az-Bat came ashore after the explosions on the Navy dock; Bullock and Montoya were on the scene. Shiva returned to the ninja sect and attacked. She left one alive so that he could tell the rest the game was over. Bruce returned to the cave to meet Dick and Tim. Bane awakened from his catatonic state - he knew Batman had returned. Bruce once again put on the suit.

Storyline: For the first time in a long time, Bruce Wayne was Batman again. Catwoman questioned her captive. His friends soon arrived and took her to Selkirk. Az-Bat burst onto the scene (he was once in league with LeHah). Catwoman freed herself and they both went after him. Batman, Robin, and Nightwing showed up to stop Jean Paul.

Storyline: Batman tried to reason with Az-Bat, but his attempts only instigated a fight. Alarms were triggered and Gordon got the call that two Batmen were fighting. Selkirk grabbed the neural enabler and hopped into a helicopter with Catwoman still in pursuit. Az-Bat's grapnel grasped the helicopter, pulling both Batmen into the air.

Shadow of the Bat 30

Storyline: Trying to shake the Batmen and Catwoman, Selkirk's helicopter crashed onto the high-point of a suspended bridge. As Batman tried to save Catwoman, Az-Bat continued his assault on his former mentor. Falling fuel from the helicopter ignited Az-Bat when he used his flame-thrower; he fell burning into the river. Batman and Catwoman saved Selkirk and his men from the burning helicopter. Batman took the Batmobile to attempt to save Jean Paul, but it had been booby-trapped and exploded. Azrael, costume now red where it once was blue - no longer resembling Batman at all, climbed from the river and attacked Nightwing and Robin.

Subtitle: Flesh and Shell - KnightsEnd part nine

Storyline: Believing Bruce died in the explosion, Nightwing went after Azrael. Their struggle caused them to fall into the river. Batman survived and got Robin to safety off the bridge. Nightwing followed Azrael onto a casino boat, where their fight continued. The police arrived; Azrael tossed the "pretender" at them and escaped. When he returned to the cave, Bruce Wayne - Batman, was waiting for him.

Storyline: Batman demanded Jean Paul to take off his costume; Azrael refused and attacked. He retreated into the cave, where Bruce gained entrance from outside. Batman lured Azrael into a crevice, where he was forced to remove his bulky armor. With mask and nightvision lenses in place, Batman removed a panel, flooding Jean Paul with light. Blinded, he took off the helmet and realized he was not Batman. Bruce forgave him, telling him he must find his own path. Jean Paul walked away from Wayne Manor.


Robin 9

Storyline: Robin arrived back at the cave. Bruce told him he had things to think about and left. Tim returned home and spent some time with his father and girlfriend, Ariana. That night, he responded to the Batsignal - a museum robbery was in progress. Batman beat him there. Together once again, Batman and Robin took down the thieves and left them for Gordon's men.


Catwoman 13

Storyline: Surrounded by police, Catwoman leapt into the river. After getting ashore, she joined with her people and made a dive for the enabler, which Selkirk had thrown into the river. She recovered it, but it was taken by Selkirk, who was waiting for her to surface. Catwoman's people bested Selkirks, and the enabler was successfully used on her friend.
