Storyline: Catwoman saved "Lefty Knox" (Batman) from one of Dr. Aesop's lessons. After a quick change of clothes, the two went after him.
Hush thought back on his childhood, which created his hatred for Bruce Wayne. He'd sabotaged his parents car in hopes they'd die and he'd rake in their money. Only his father died. Dr. Thomas Wayne saved his mother.
Batman and Catwoman cornered Aesop, but Hush was there and killed him. He vanished before Batman could get to him.

Storyline: Hush practiced killing another Batman. He was renovating an old hospital as his headquarters and using homeless people as targets and helpers. He thought back on a trip to camp where his mother came to get him early. When called a "mamma's boy," he flipped out and hit a kid in the head with an oar. He was sent to counselling under Dr. Crane. When he got his clean bill of health, he went home and heard about Bruce's parents.
Batman, Robin, and Nightwing took down the Wonderland Gang. Batman informed them that Hush was going to strike at him from a distance - on someone he cared about.
Selina talked to Zatanna about Bruce and Jezebel Jett. Hush watched them.
Scarecrow was working for Hush.

Storyline: Hush attacked Selina Kyle. She sliced his facial bandages and was taken aback at what she saw. He took advantage of the situation and cut her.
Batman went after Scarecrow, who'd sent a message to the police as to his whereabouts. He had a 10 year old boy hostage. When Batman arrived, Scarecrow fed the boy some Venom and he attacked. Batman got him to turn on Crane and stopped them both. On his way back, he got a call from Oracle - Selina was in the hospital. She was still alive, but Hush had removed her heart.

Storyline: Batman attacked Scarecrow in Arkham until he got the answer he was looking for - Hush's location. Selina was in the care of Dr. Mid-Nite and Mr. Terrific. She was stable and feeling no pain. They weren't quite sure what to make of the device she was connected to.
Hush prepared his people for Batman's imminent arrival. When he got there, Hush gassed him and left him conscious, but immobile. He removed his bandages to show himself - he'd received plastic surgery to look like Bruce Wayne.

Storyline: Batman got to the Manor just after Hush did. He was able to get in touch with Alfred first, who was busy fighting him off. The enemies fought their way into the cave, where Nightwing and Robin joined the fight. Hush told Batman how he'd killed his mother after she wrote him out of the will. Hush got on a whirlybat and crashed it into the cave wall. Robin and Nightwing found no body.
Batman got Terrific and Mid-Night to the cryogenically frozen heart (Hush got help from Mr. Freeze) and Selina was fixed up. While recovering, Bruce told her he loved her.
Two months later, Selina sent Elliot a message. She, with some help, had stolen all of his money and spent it all.
