Storyline: Superman visited Batman while he was taking down some mooks. He offered his support even after Batman said he had no "identity" to clear (Bruce Wayne). Alfred found a case file in the cave on Bruce Wayne and began reading it.

Storyline: Batman walked out on Alfred when he wanted to discuss the Bruce Wayne journals. He met with Commissioner Akins, who told him about a series of kidnapping which ended with the victim being burned alive. Batman found the man's driver and questioned him. That led him to the killer and his latest two victims - one he saved, the other died of a heart attack. The killer, calling himself Nicodemus, sent a message to Gotham City.

Storyline: Oracle helped Black Canary break into Vesper Fairchild's safe-deposit box, where she found some computer discs. With the discs, Oracle learned Vesper was not close to identifying Batman - the records on her computer had been altered. The robot sent by Quam to Kord began selling his stock in the company. Oracle figured out something was wrong and sent Power Girl. She destroyed the robot and got Kord to the hospital.

Storyline: Batgirl and Spoiler saw something while on patrol. Batgirl hit her partner with a nerve strike so she wouldn't get in the way. After taking down the team they'd seen, Batman congratulated Batgirl for defeating Shiva. When she offered her help, he refused it. Back at the Clocktower, Batgirl and Oracle went over some clues. She and Spoiler went to Fairchild's grave. She hit Spoiler again with a nerve strike at her request. After digging up the body, Batgirl found she'd been hit with the same nerve strike she'd been using on Spoiler.

Storyline: Nightwing visited the Manor and cave. He spoke with Alfred and found some inconsistencies on the surveillance footage. He took what he found to Robin for better analysis. Nightwing was sure the person broke into the cave three times. Soames and Tad prepared for their new crusade; Hella struck looking for Lunchmeat Deever. She learned he was in Arizona in the witness protection program. Dick broke into GCPD to examine their evidence.

Storyline: The third Lucky Hand Triad member was killed within a week. The murder weapon's prints belonged to a man who'd been dead for nearly a month. Robin found something on the security tapes he'd been given by Nightwing - a boot's shadow and no wind. Batman investigated the Lucky Hand murders, but found all the bodies in the morgue had been taken - all of them. The mortician was somehow reanimating the bodies.

Storyline: Alfred's plan of "smoking the hull" worked - by emitting infrared gas from the cave, Nightwing found some possible entrance points. He tried the biggest one, which was located in an abandoned barn on the estate, and made his way successfully into the cave. Along the way, he found their first physical evidence. Bludhaven PD went in on a warrant. The perpetrator offered them half a million in cash to let him go. Officer Amy Rohrback was threatened when she didn't wish to cooperate and shot the other officers.

Storyline: As Oracle, Nightwing, Robin, and Alfred went over some things, Deathstroke made an appearance in Gotham City. He was hired by scientists out to cure auto-immune diseases. S.T.A.R. Labs called Dinah - they'd found a man who appeared to have been time warped from 1944 Japan. He was immune to most known diseases. Canary prepared for her mission. Eddie Fyers and Connor Hawke joined on as well.

Storyline: Nightwing picked up Batgirl - they planned to recreate the night of the murder. A synthesized Bruce Wayne called and invited Fairchild over. The killer met her at the door with the nerve strike. He took her to the bedroom and ran Wayne's post-murder shower. He killed her and waited for Batman to return, then placed the fake 911 call. Due to her injuries, they realized she was beaten just enough not to loose consciousness.

Storyline: Catwoman found Batman and relayed a message to him from Dr. Thompkins. Leslie told him Gary Sloan was in the hospital and wouldn't last long. Detective Sloan had asked for Batman. He asked him to take over a case for him - the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. He'd promised their son he'd never stop looking for their killer; he believed in Wayne's innocence, which helped Batman recover part of himself.
